History:
The Sten Mark II has left its mark on the collective imagination with its characteristic shape due to the side-mounted magazine. Its ruggedness, ease of handling and parachuting to resistance movements at the end of the conflict made it the symbol of the armed struggle of the European resistance during the Second World War.The Sten was mainly used by troops of the British Empire (British, Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders, etc.).
The Sten is characterised above all by its simplicity of operation, with a non-chocked percussion breech, and its manufacture by stamping, which allows rapid mass production at low cost. It was also much lighter than other machine pistols of the time (2.95 kg empty compared with 3.97 kg for the German MP40).
