History of the real weapon:
The HK 416 is an assault rifle from the German firm Heckler & Koch , an upgraded version of the M4 rifle.
Originally, it was to be named HKM4, but it was changed because of a lawsuit by Colt's Manufacturing Company , which believed itself to be the holder of the M4's commercial rights. An amicable arrangement has been agreed. Nevertheless it is important to note that Colt was dismissed following a lawsuit brought by Bushmaster ; M4 has been recognized as a generic term by US justice.

The HK 416 gas-filled piston system is similar to the one already fitted to riflesf = "https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/HK_G36">HK G36and replacing the direct-gas system used by the M4 and M16. This system was taken from Eugene Stoner's AR-18 and "improved". It is only available for government agencies and military organizations. It can be purchased as a complete weapon or as a kit including the upper receiver for the conversion of a Colt M4 / M16 family weapon. It is not so far intended for sale to civilians, this role being devolved to the recent MR223 which is closely related.
