The German Army's assault rifle since 1997, this weapon was designed at the end of the Cold War, as the Bundeswehr needed to modernize.
Although the current trend in assault rifles is towards bullpup designs, this rifle retains a classic design. It is therefore relatively long. However, its weight of 3.6 kg remains perfectly within current standards, thanks in particular to the use of polymers or ultra-resistant plastics. The stock folds to the side of the weapon.
What distinguishes it from other conventional assault rifles is its sighting system and the integrated foregrip on its upper receiver. The version intended for the German Army is equipped with a dual optical sight. The upper scope offers no magnification and allows for rapid target acquisition by aligning a red dot sight, while the lower scope, with a 3.0x magnification, is used for long-range precision shooting.
The short version has no scope but is equipped with a standard Picatinny rail, allowing the attachment of any sighting system.
This weapon is currently used by many French intervention groups, including RAID, GIPN, SDLP, ERIS, PI2G, PSPG, etc.
This G316 is a collector's item, produced in very limited quantities. This blowback AEG comes with a high-capacity magazine.
