The M92 pistol is an Italian semi-automatic pistol designed by Beretta, the first version of which went into production in 1976. An improvement on the 1923 and 1951 models, it enjoyed considerable commercial success, being adopted by the US, Italian and French armies (in the form of the PAMAS G1), among others.
The M9 pistol was designed as a double-action weapon, which means that a shot can be fired simply by pulling the trigger. It is equipped with a 20-round magazine. The pistol is also equipped with a safety selector that can be used to lock the firing pin and prevent the pistol from firing.
Since 1990, the Beretta 92FS has been officially fitted to most of the armed forces of the United States of America (under the name M9), after winning the 1980 and 1984 competitions, and has since been produced by Beretta USA . The M9 pistol is still very popular with collectors. It is considered a collector's item.
