History:

In 1979 appears the AKS-74U or AKSU, a much shorter version especially intended for the special forces, the crews of tanks, extremely compact because long of 490 mm crosse folded. The AKS-74U is one of the smallest shortened assault rifles. The barrel is much shorter with only 210mm and the gas vent has been moved closer to the chamber, opening the bolt earlier thus increasing the rate of fire. This cannon, however, does not provide sustained fire, reduces accuracy and involves significant flame and muzzle detonation, making the weapon particularly uncomfortable to fire and easier to spot for the enemy. He inspired copies or variants of Polish, Bulgarian, East German, Yugoslav and even American industrialists.
