A brief history of Barrett Firearms Manufacturing
Barrett Firearms Manufacturing is an American firearms and ammunition manufacturer based in the city of Christiana, Tennessee. It was founded in 1982 by Ronnie G. Barrett for the sole purpose of building semi-automatic rifles with powerful .50 caliber ammunition, originally developed and used in Browning M2 machine guns.

Barrett began his work in the early 1980s and the first rifles were available in 1982, hence the M82 designation. Barrett designed every part of the gun personally, then marketed the gun and mass produced it with his own funds. He continued to develop his rifle through the 1980s and developed an improvement to the rifle, called the M82A1 in 1986.

Barrett introduced the M82 in 1982, but did not make any significant sales until 1989. Those first big sales were in Sweden. Shortly thereafter, the M82 was purchased by the U.S. armed forces and deployed in the Gulf War. Today, the company has contracts with dozens of countries to supply sniper rifles. The success of the M82A1 led the company to develop several other .50 caliber rifle models, including the M95, M98B, M99 and M99-1. These are lighter, less expensive bolt action rifles.

Barrett Airsoft sniper rifles
There are mainly two replica Barrett airsoft rifles, namely the Barrett M82A1 and M98B and M99 sniper rifles. The only airsoft gun manufacturers that make Barrett replicas are Snow Wolf and Galaxy. Snow Wolf has produced airsoft replicas of the M82A1, M98B and M99, while Galaxy offers a replica of the Barrett M82. The M82A1, M98B and M99 airsoft replicas share one thing in common: they all have excellent craftsmanship. Barrett airsoft sniper rifle replicas are all very faithful copies of real steel rifles. They also have a very high accuracy and a range that is decent for an airsoft sniper rifle.

Short history of the Barrett M82

The Barrett M82, standardized by the U.S. Army as the M107, is a semi-automatic, recoil-operated sniper rifle developed by the U.S. company Barrett Firearms Manufacturing. Despite its designation as an anti-materiel rifle, it is used by some armed forces as an anti-personnel system. The M107 variant is also called Light Fifty for its .50 chambering and considerably lighter weight compared to previous applications.

It should be remembered that the Barrett M82 sniper rifle is legendary and a true benchmark in military and law enforcement circles as one of the most accurate and effective sniper rifles on the market.

    Barrett M82 Airsoft Specifics

The Barrett M82 airsoft replica can be considered a metal replica, except for some plastic and rubber parts. The handle is made of plastic and the pad is made of thick rubber. It is a bit lighter than the M107 airsoft replica, mainly because the M107 is made of steel, while the M82 is coated with a zinc alloy.

The range and accuracy of the Barrett M82 airsoft sniper rifle is exactly what you would expect from a precision rifle. The Barrett M82 airsoft replica is not designed to be a complete airsoft sniper rifle, but it can easily be upgraded with parts from other airsoft sniper rifles such as V2 and AEG components. With a long barrel length, there is plenty of room to modify and upgrade the Barrett M82.

Finally, it should be noted that the Barrett M82 airsoft is an easy to maintain weapon. Regular cleaning and re-lubrication of the compression parts will keep it perfectly sealed, like any self-respecting airsoft sniper rifle.

Short history of the Barrett M98

The Barrett M98 is a bolt action sniper rifle manufactured by Barrett Firearms Manufacturing. The Barrett M98 was officially announced in October 2008 and became available for sale in early 2009.

Barrett engineers began designing the Barrett M98 in 1997, with the goal of developing a tactical precision .338 Lapua rifle that was not based on any sporting rifle. The initial semi-automatic design, the M98, was unveiled at the 1998 SHOT Show, but was not officially announced until 10 years later. Many of the M98's features were inspired by Stoner's AR-15/M16.

On September 9, 2009, Barrett issued a recall notice regarding the M98. They determined that if the rifle was dropped or received a significant impact, it could accidentally discharge.  A modification to the lower receiver is necessary to ensure the safety of the user.

    Barrett M98 Airsoft Features

The Barrett M98 Airsoft is an authentic replica of the real Barrett M98. It is an almost all metal replica. Parts such as the compensator, outer body, bipod and upper half of the body are made of steel or metal alloy. The lower half of the body, the stock with adjustable cheekpiece and the magazine are made from a durable polymer. The gun comes with a long integrated RIS rail for mounting, a shorter RIS rail for installation of tactical accessories to suit the user's needs. As with the original rifle, the Barrett M98 airsoft replica can be disassembled into two parts by hand with a single pin, making it easy to transport.

The metal reinforced gearbox contains high quality steel gears, precision bearings, M120 spring, reinforced cylinder head and vacuum piston head. The adjustable Hop Up makes a valuable contribution to achieving good trajectory and range.

What are the different variants available on Phenix Airsoft?

It weighs about 4.5 kg and measures 1265 mm. As for the barrel, it measures 640 mm and has a diameter of 6.08 cm. In addition to the adjustable Hop Up, the Gearbox of the Snow Wolf Sniper Barrett M98B is V2 Full Metal. In terms of performance, the Snow Wolf Sniper Barrett M98B deploys a power of 1.4 joules for a velocity of approximately 380 FPS.
